The Memorial Center of the Republic of Srpska and the Association of Families of Missing and Fallen Persons “Suza” from Belgrade signed a Memorandum of Cooperation today.
The Memorial Center of the Republic of Srpska and the Association of Families of Missing and Fallen Persons “Suza” from Belgrade signed a Memorandum of Cooperation today, formalizing their joint work on recording and archiving testimonies about the suffering of Serbs from Croatia during the war conflicts of the 1990s.
The project foresees the collection of authentic testimonies from family members of the deceased, missing, and displaced, with the aim of preserving the truth and creating a permanent archive of the oral history of the Serbian people.
The Director of the Memorial Center of the Republic of Srpska, Denis Bojić, stated that the partnership with the “Suza” Association represents an important step in fulfilling the mission of the Center.
– “The ‘Suza’ Association brings together those who have been most directly affected by the tragedy and who carry the heaviest burden of family suffering. Their stories must be documented and preserved in their original form,” Bojić said.
The President of the “Suza” Association, Dragana Đukić, highlighted the importance of cooperation with the Memorial Center regarding institutional support and the professional execution of recording testimonies.
– “Our associations operate out of the need for the truth about the suffering of Serbs from Croatia to be heard. This Memorandum gives us strength and a sense that we are not alone in this struggle. Every family whose fate is recorded becomes part of our shared memory,” Đukić stated.
The Memorandum foresees fieldwork in the Republic of Srpska, Serbia, and the diaspora, recording testimonies, building an archival collection, and producing documentary content based on truthful and personal experiences of victims and their families.
This cooperation confirms a shared commitment to preserving testimonies and establishing the foundation for the lasting memory of the historical experiences of the Serbian people.
