Memorandum of cooperation signed with the municipality of Foča
Acting Director of the Memorial Center of the Republic of Srpska Denis Bojić signed a Memorandum of Cooperation today with the Mayor of Foča, Milan Vukadinović, making this municipality the eighth local community in the Republic of Srpska where a studio center has been established for collecting testimonies about the suffering of the Serbian people.
Bojić stated that testimonies from family members of Serbian civilian victims from the last war in Bosnia and Herzegovina, which will be preserved in the Memorial Center of the Republic of Srpska, will be accessible to all humanity and will serve as a safeguard against the rewriting of history.
“The task of the Memorial Center of the Republic of Srpska is to process all these testimonies in a historically rigorous manner, so that these living memories become part of our database and are available not only to the Serbian people, but to all humanity. They will serve as support to the educational system, but above all as a kind of barrier against historical revisionism, which is widespread,” Bojić emphasized.
Vukadinović said that the Serbian people made enormous sacrifices defending the Republic of Srpska, and that this is a way to bring the truth about the last war closer to younger generations—that the Serbian people were not aggressors, but were defending their centuries-old homes.
“The municipality has undertaken the obligation to establish appropriate expert teams, field logistics, and technical crews responsible for collecting statements on the ground. Also, for any additional needs that may arise during this process, the municipality will be available,” Vukadinović emphasized.
The President of the Republic Organization of Families of Captured, Killed Soldiers and Missing Civilians, Isidora Graorac, stressed that this is a very important mission not only because of history, but even more because of the future and the generations to come.
The signing of the Memorandum was also attended by representatives of municipal organizations originating from the last war.
