RTRS: The work of the Memorial Center of Republika Srpska presented in Sweden and Norway

Within the framework of the second “Swedish-Norwegian-Serbian Literary Evenings”, organized by the Union of Serbs in Sweden and the Union of Serbian Creators of Scandinavia, in the cities of Stockholm, Oslo, Gothenburg, Malmö, Västerås and Halmstad, the historical project of the Memorial Center of the Republic of Srpska was presented, dedicated to the systematic recording and archiving of all available testimonies about the suffering of the Serbian people.

The Director of the Memorial Center, Denis Bojić, acquainted those present in all cities with the mission and significance of the Memorial Center of the Republic of Srpska and emphasized that presenting Serbian suffering worldwide is of exceptional importance not only for familiarizing generations growing up in the diaspora, but also for establishing the possibility of equal presentation of the truth about Serbian suffering within the European and global media space.

He stressed that the testimonies collected by the Memorial Center have universal value as a document of the struggle for truth, justice and dignity of every victim.

Representatives of the Union of Serbs in Sweden and the Union of Serbian Creators of Scandinavia expressed gratitude that such a well-argued and documented presentation of Serbian suffering will be available to our people in Scandinavia as a permanent testimony of truth and a warning.

The hosts of the meetings were Jelena Mila (Union of Serbs in Sweden) and Branko Dimović Dimеski (Union of Serbian Creators of Scandinavia).

The event was realized in cooperation with the Union of Serbs in Sweden and the Union of Serbian Creators of Scandinavia, with the support of the Serbian Orthodox Church, the Embassy of the Republic of Serbia in Sweden and Norway, as well as numerous cultural institutions and media.

Participants in the program included Vesna Pešić, Kosta Kosovac, Jørn Olsen, Dragan Jovanov, Tom Lusback, Mihajlo Buvač, Ljiljana Bulajić, Časlav Simić, Branko Dimović Dimеski, Jelena Mila, as well as numerous Serbian, Swedish and Norwegian creators from various fields.

Among the guests were the Ambassador of Serbia to Norway, Dr. Jasmina Mitrović Marić, and the representative of the Norwegian Ministry of Culture, Håkon Vinje.

During the program in all cities, the documentary film “Witness” (“Svjedok”) was also screened, which deals with the suffering of Serbs in the territory of the former Yugoslavia and is based on the work of the late professor Dr. Zoran Stanković.

The film was produced in co-production by Radio-Television of the Republic of Srpska and the Republic Center for Research of War Crimes, as a significant authentic contribution to the culture of remembrance and the preservation of historical truth.
