The Director of the Memorial Center of the Republic of Srpska, Denis Boji\u0107, and the President of the Organization of Senior Officers of the Army of the Republic of Srpska, Slobodan \u017dupljanin, signed a Memorandum of Cooperation today, formalizing joint efforts to preserve the culture of remembrance and collect testimonies about the suffering of the Serbian people.<\/p>\n
\u201cOur task is to record, as soon as possible, the memories of the parents of killed and missing civilians and soldiers, which will be archived in the Memorial Center of the Republic of Srpska. We call on everyone who bears witness to Serbian suffering to find the courage to tell what must be told, so that our children may have a history recorded in the first person, rather than having others speak on our behalf,\u201d emphasized the Director of the Memorial Center of the Republic of Srpska, Denis Boji\u0107.<\/p>\n
The President of the Organization of Senior Officers of the Army of the Republic of Srpska, Slobodan \u017dupljanin, highlighted the importance of this cooperation for preserving the truth about the victims and soldiers who gave their lives for the Republic of Srpska. He also stressed that the Memorial Center of the Republic of Srpska actively works on preserving memory and documenting the suffering of the Serbian people in the past wars. \u201cFamily members of the victims \u2013 fathers, mothers, sisters, brothers, wives, and children \u2013 must leave their testimonies so that we can pass them on to future generations, not in order to spread or deepen hatred, but so that, by nurturing a culture of remembrance, we can help ensure that similar events never happen to anyone again,\u201d \u017dupljanin stated.<\/p>\n
The Memorial Center of Republika Srpska invites all family members of fallen and missing civilians and soldiers from the Defense-Patriotic War to share their testimony, and in that way permanently preserve the memory of their loved ones.
