The highest recognition of the Municipality of Brod was awarded to Denis Boji\u0107, Director of the RS Memorial Center. The Charter of the Protection of the Most Holy Theotokos is traditionally awarded on October 7 at the solemn session on the occasion of Municipality Day. Boji\u0107 received this recognition for his exceptional contribution to preserving Serbian history, nurturing the culture of remembrance, and protecting the memory of the victims of Brod and the Republic of Srpska during the wartime events.<\/p>\n
\u201cFor me, this is a great honor, but also a responsibility. It is not only recognition for me, but for all the people who have been working for years on collecting and preserving testimonies about the suffering of our people. Through the work of the Memorial Center of the Republic of Srpska, we strive to preserve the truth and the dignity of those who are no longer with us, so that their names and sufferings are never forgotten. I carry Brod deep in my heart, because it is a place with deep wounds, but also a place of pride, strength, and renewal. This award obliges me to continue in the name of those who can no longer speak, and to preserve memory as the highest form of respect toward the victims,\u201d said Boji\u0107.<\/p>\n
In the explanation of the decision, it was emphasized that through his many years of work, films, and projects of the Memorial Center, Boji\u0107 has made an immeasurable contribution to preserving national identity, transmitting the truth, and creating an archive of remembrance that remains for future generations.<\/p>\n
It has been 33 years since the liberation of the Municipality of Brod. In 1992, the breakthrough of the Obodni Canal, located on the border between Derventa and Brod, enabled the start of the operation to liberate Brod. The Head of the Municipality of Brod, Milan Ze\u010devi\u0107, said that he hopes the path this municipality is on will be one of development and progress. He added that the day of liberation has already been marked for 33 years, noting that on the evening of October 6, 1992, this municipality was militarily liberated. Ze\u010devi\u0107 emphasized the importance of educating new generations in the coming decades about the foundations on which they live, as well as about the price paid for freedom.<\/p>\n
The President of the Municipal Assembly, Milo\u0161 Stani\u0161i\u0107, stated that this date is of exceptional importance because it preserves the memory of the fighters and all those who gave their lives for the freedom of Brod.<\/p>\n
