SRBAC \u2013 The Memorial Center of the Republic of Srpska, in cooperation with the Municipal Organization of Families of Captured and Killed Fighters and Missing Civilians from Srbac, during the past period recorded testimonies of 20 parents and spouses of killed fighters from the territory of this municipality, while in the upcoming period the recording of testimonies from approximately another 70 witnesses who are ready to share their memories and stories is planned.<\/p>\n
The Director of the Memorial Center of the Republic of Srpska, Denis Boji\u0107, stated at today\u2019s reception in Srbac that these testimonies are of inestimable importance for preserving the truth about Serbian suffering.<\/p>\n
\u201cOur goal is to record every available testimony from family members of killed and missing civilians and soldiers, and we hope that, with the help of the municipality and organizations that emerged from the Defense-Patriotic War, we will bring this difficult, but historically important and responsible task to completion. All those testimonies will become part of the Memorial Center\u2019s database, but also of the museum exhibition dedicated to the creation of the Republic of Srpska,\u201d Boji\u0107 said.<\/p>\n
He emphasized that Srbac is an example of a community that nurtures the memory of its heroes and that such places will have an important role in the project.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis is one of the municipalities that suffered human losses which form the foundation of the Republic of Srpska, and precisely because of that it should make its contribution to the culture of remembrance and memory. We have encountered great willingness of people to share their experiences,\u201d Boji\u0107 highlighted.<\/p>\n
The President of the Municipal Organization of Families of Captured and Killed Fighters and Missing Civilians, Dragutin Stanojevi\u0107, recalled that four recordings have been completed so far\u2014two in the Memorial Room and two in the field\u2014and that it remains to record all the remaining available testimonies.<\/p>\n
\u201cCurrently we still have about 70 living persons who could testify. Among them are also people who wish to speak on behalf of their killed friends who left no descendants behind. In this way we want to leave a trace of their lives. As an organization, we will do everything to help the Memorial Center complete this task to the end,\u201d Stanojevi\u0107 said.<\/p>\n
The Head of the Municipality of Srbac, Mla\u0111an Dragosavljevi\u0107, stressed that this project is of enormous importance because it preserves identity, truth, and remembrance of the people who gave their lives for the Republic of Srpska.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe local administration will continue to provide full support and ensure all necessary material conditions so that the testimonies are preserved in a dignified manner and so that all families of killed fighters and their closest relatives are included in this significant project,\u201d Dragosavljevi\u0107 said.<\/p>\n
